Keelung is one of those cities that quietly surprises you when it comes to shopping. As a busy harbour city just north of Taipei, it blends modern malls, department stores and recognisable brands with traditional markets, night stalls and small independent shops. Whether you’re looking for essentials, souvenirs, snacks or tech, shopping in Keelung is varied, convenient and very walkable.
Top places to shop in Keelung
Keelung Miaokou Night Market
This is Keelung’s most famous shopping and food area and a must-visit even if shopping isn’t your main goal. While it’s best known for street food, there are also stalls selling clothing, accessories, small gifts and everyday items. It’s lively from late afternoon into the evening and gives a real sense of local life.

EAST COAST by BREEZE
Located right by the harbour, this modern shopping mall is a comfortable place to browse shops, eat and cool off in air-conditioning. It has a mix of fashion, lifestyle stores and restaurants, and it’s a good stop if you want a more relaxed shopping experience with sea views.

Imperial Crown Building
A long-established mall in central Keelung, the Imperial Crown Building is handy for clothes, accessories, household items and everyday shopping. It’s not flashy, but it’s practical and centrally located.
In the basement, you will find a second hand store with both casual and luxury goods for men and women. The store is called 2ND STREET and you simply go down the escalator you see as soon as you enter the Imperial Crown Building to get to it.

Inside the Imperial Crown Building you’ll also find POYA, which I mention below because it stocks a whole range of products and goods.

N Plaza
N Plaza is another convenient downtown shopping spot, close to transport links and surrounded by busy streets full of shops. It’s easy to combine a visit here with exploring nearby markets and food spots.

Shopping on the streets of Keelung
One of the nicest things about shopping in Keelung is simply walking around. The city streets are full of contrasts: big brand names, familiar chain stores and pharmacies sit right next to tiny independent shops, local boutiques and pop-up market stalls. You might turn a corner from a modern store into a street full of traditional vendors selling snacks, clothing or household goods. It feels very local, very lived-in, and much less polished than some of Taiwan’s bigger cities, which is part of its charm.
Online shopping in Taiwan (and what to know)
Taiwan has an excellent online shopping culture, and you’ll often see locals ordering everything from groceries to electronics for fast delivery. Popular platforms include Momo, Shopee, Foodpanda, PCHome24h and Taobao. These can be great options if you’re staying longer or want something specific delivered to your accommodation. It’s worth knowing that many of these services restrict purchases if you can’t verify your account with a Taiwanese phone number. Without local number verification, you may be unable to complete checkout or access delivery features.
I have tried to use a number of these and always come up against something that stops me actually being able to use the service or complete a purchase: that is except for Foodpanda. Foodpanda has always worked for me and it has a selection of restaurants and stores you can buy from.
Where to shop by category
Toiletries and daily essentials
For shampoo, skincare, suncream and basic medicines, the easiest options are Watsons and POYA. Both are widespread around Keelung and stock a mix of international and Taiwanese brands. You can also check supermarkets or convenience stores but they have a much smaller range of these things than stores like Watsons and POYA.
Watsons:

Snacks and convenience food
Taiwan’s convenience stores are excellent for snacks, drinks and quick meals. In Keelung you’ll constantly come across FamilyMart, 7-Eleven and OK Mart. They’re ideal for picking up local treats, cold drinks or something easy to eat while exploring. PX Mart is also great if you buy via Foodpanda, but they do not accept card payments in the store and all I could figure out as the ‘why’ was it seems like they may use a specific payment system designed for PX Mart only.
Swimwear
Thanks to Keelung’s coastal location, swimwear is fairly easy to find. POYA stocks basic swimwear seasonally, Dr Ocean focuses on beach and sea-related gear, and 小海豚泳裝 is a small local swimwear shop. You can also find a small selection of swimwear at 大四美內衣化粧品名店-國民旅遊卡特約店 (aka Shiseido) and I got my 10 year old a set of swimwear that covers his full body here. I will leave the locations for these below so you can find them easily.

You can find the POYA stores elsewhere in Keelung, I just mapped these locations because they are easy to get to from Keelung city centre and I know that because I did the walk to them both myself.
Gadgets and electronics
For cables, accessories and everyday tech, look out for TK3C (including the flagship store), Elifemall, Kuang Nan Fashion Shop and POYA, which often stocks small gadgets alongside beauty and household items. Things like cables and small electricals like power banks are actually available in so many places, even convenience stores like 7-Eleven or often in hotels and small independent stores too.

Keelung may not be known as a major shopping destination, but that’s exactly why it’s enjoyable. You’re not navigating huge malls all day; instead, you’re discovering a city where everyday life, food and shopping blend together naturally. If you enjoy browsing without pressure and finding things as you go, Keelung is a great place to shop.
