Livefortuna Hotel Review

Livefortuna Hotel in Chaoyang, Beijing

LiveFortuna Hotel sits in a central part of Beijing, conveniently close to Wangfujing Street and many of the major tourist attractions. Its setting offers a good balance: close enough to the action, yet tucked away enough to provide some respite from the city’s noise.

Room type stayed in:

I booked Livefortuna Hotel via Trip.com. The room type we had was a “Family Room” which typically can host 4 guests, but will also accept a small child. My “small child” was aged 2.5 years old during our stay.

The family room is spacious, our layout meant that when we entered the room we walked into a small kitchen area to the left, and the bathroom to the right. Straight ahead from there was the main bedroom area with a sofa, TV and a dining table with 4 chairs. Behind the bathroom, on the right of the room, was the mezzanine area with the second double bed. It had a sliding, slatted door you could close over for more privacy.

The TV was in Chinese (not a problem, but I am making it clear so anyone reading this knows what to expect). This mean we couldn’t actually use it because we didn’t understand the menu or any of the shows we put on. The kids did enjoy the music section of the TV and were quite chuffed to find a Plants vs. Zombies album.

In the kitchen, there was a washer/drier. The menu on it is in Chinese, but the room has a little flip-guide about the room and the hotel so you just need to look in there to find out what each option on the machine it. Warning to anyone looking to use the drier – you cannot turn it off and open it mid-drying cycle and a cycle seems to take 2.5 hours. This was a bit of a pain on the last day when we had hung-dried a lot of items and just needed to give them a short drying cycle to be able to pack them – but we wouldn’t have been able to open it to take stuff out in time to go to the airport. The kitchen also has a small fridge and a kettle. We were able to buy in some snacks for the kids and were able to cook them up some ramen noodles – they were very chuffed with this! There is also a microwave – which meant we could warm up KFC or McDonald’s we had brought back for them because they were too overstimulated to eat in the restaurant.

Built into the area under the mezzanine bed was a whole host of storage! The storage was next-level and there was so much you could actually live here with everything sorted away nicely. There were even pull out rails to hang clothes! Our biggest suitcase fit into one of the storage cupboards here, and it was so easy to just roll it in and out.

It seems like each room had it’s own router and internet connection which is great! The only issue was it just did not work at all if your device had a VPN active. In the end, we decided to buy eSim cards via Trip.com for our phones because then we could use our VPN and access social media and the kids could watch YouTube.

Length of stay: 4 nights

What worked well?

Cleanliness & Modern Design
One major positive about Livefortuna Hotel is how clean, stylish, and well-maintained the hotel is. Every day, throughout the day, you see the staff outside are even sweeping the outdoor steps to keep them clean and tidy. The rooms have a contemporary flair, and the layout is smart — although compact in some cases. There is a huge amount of storage available and it is well-designed into the room spaces which would be otherwise unused – meaning it does not take up valuable space for guests to move around.

Good Amenities: Pool, Gym, Dining
The hotel features both an indoor pool and gym. The pool and gym are both on the top floor of the hotel, and the pool boasts an incredible view out to Beijing. The restaurant is modern and versatile, and breakfast offerings are varied and from a range of cuisines.

Helpful Staff & Service
Another positive is the staff’s friendliness, willingness to help, and English communication. The front desk is open 24 hours a day – so handy for those arriving into the night. For families especially, that kind of service can be a real relief when navigating a city you’re not familiar with.

Extra Useful Features for Extended Stays.
Some rooms come with washer / dryer machines and a kitchenette setup. This was the case with our family suite (the type with 2 double beds). That’s a big plus when travelling with kids or for longer visits. You are also provided with laundry detergent and can collect more from one of the laundry rooms in the hotel.

Flaws but not deal-breakers

Mezzanine bed privacy.
For the family suites with one double bed inside a raised space with sliding, slatted doors, it would be good to have a curtain inside to draw back at night so others can continue to use the lights in the main bedroom area.

Pool booking.
Although the written guide in the bedroom stated that you would need to book the pool, we did not have to do this and simply turned up a number of times during our visit. However, it seems that this system may be in place when it is busy and this can be a bit of a pain if, like us, you just need to act on things when everyone is regulated and acting safely.

Tips / Suggestions for Families / Sensory-Aware Travellers

  • Ask for a room on a higher floor and away from service areas to minimise noise. There is an elevator so it is easy to get to whatever floor you need to be on.
  • If possible, view the layout of the room in advance (to see how beds, alcoves, ceilings are placed). Definitely look at a blueprint of the hotel if you can because some rooms are bigger than others (ours definitely was because I noticed it on the blueprint of the hotel that was in the hallway).
  • Book pool time in advance to avoid scheduling conflicts. But, if you happen to be there and want to go you could give them a quick call from the room phone or pop up and see if you can go right away.
  • Take advantage of the in-room laundry / kitchenette to reduce external commutes for meals or wash cycles. You can request for items for the kitchen – take a look in the guide available in the room because it details what things you can request.

Verdict

I really liked this hotel – it is one I would definitely recommend to others and would opt to go back here again if I was staying in Beijing.

LiveFortuna Hotel offers a very solid balance of comfort, amenities, and location. For travellers with children or sensory sensitivities, its thoughtful service, clean environment, and practical extras (washer/dryer, kitchenette) are strong positive factors. The drawbacks—room size constraints and some noise/vibration issues—are real but manageable, especially if you plan ahead.
